Return code for every lumen_* C function.
W6.12 split the legacy 5-variant enum into a richer surface so C
callers can distinguish “parse failure” from “asset failure” from
“window backend failure” without inspecting the lumen_last_error
string. Numeric values are stable; new variants append.
Variants§
Ok = 0
Operation succeeded.
ErrBadPath = 1
A path argument was missing or could not be resolved.
ErrBadArg = 2
A non-path argument was missing or malformed.
ErrRuntime = 3
Generic runtime error (legacy catch-all; new code should pick a more specific variant when possible).
ErrInternal = 4
Internal error (Rust panic caught at the boundary).
ErrParse = 5
HTML / template parse failure.
ErrCss = 6
CSS parse / cascade failure.
ErrAsset = 7
Asset load / decode failure.
ErrWindow = 8
Window backend (winit / wgpu surface) failure.
ErrScript = 9
Script (Rhai) compile / runtime failure.
ErrIo = 10
Generic I/O error (filesystem, network).
ErrInvalidHandle = 11
lumen_* was called with a handle that does not belong to a
live LumenApp (use-after-free / null after move).
ErrInvalidValue = 12
A passed value was syntactically valid but semantically wrong
(e.g. a kind/payload mismatch on LumenValue).
ErrPanic = 13
A Rust panic occurred at the boundary. This is the code every
export returns for a caught panic; the legacy ErrInternal (4) is
a separate value and is no longer returned.
ErrBufferTooSmall = 14
A caller-provided output buffer was too small. The associated
out_len out-parameter (where the export takes one) is set to the
number of bytes required, including the trailing NUL. Introduced in
ABI 0.3 for the string / array read-back accessors.

§fn fg(&self, value: Color) -> Painted<&T>
fn fg(&self, value: Color) -> Painted<&T>
Returns a styled value derived from self with the foreground set to

This method should be used rarely. Instead, prefer to use color-specific
builder methods like red() and
green(), which have the same functionality but are
pithier.
§Example
Set foreground color to white using fg():

are pithier.
§Example

fn attr(&self, value: Attribute) -> Painted<&T>
Enables the styling [Attribute] value.
This method should be used rarely. Instead, prefer to use
attribute-specific builder methods like bold() and
underline(), which have the same functionality
but are pithier.
§Example
Make text bold using attr():
use yansi::{Paint, Attribute};

Enables the yansi [Quirk] value.
This method should be used rarely. Instead, prefer to use quirk-specific
builder methods like mask() and
wrap(), which have the same functionality but are
pithier.
§Example
Enable wrapping using .quirk():
use yansi::{Paint, Quirk};
painted.quirk(Quirk::Wrap);Enable wrapping using wrap().
use yansi::Paint;
painted.wrap();§fn clear(&self) -> Painted<&T>
👎Deprecated since 1.0.1: renamed to resetting() due to conflicts with Vec::clear().
The clear() method will be removed in a future release.
fn clear(&self) -> Painted<&T>
renamed to resetting() due to conflicts with Vec::clear().
The clear() method will be removed in a future release.
§fn whenever(&self, value: Condition) -> Painted<&T>
fn whenever(&self, value: Condition) -> Painted<&T>
Conditionally enable styling based on whether the [Condition] value
applies. Replaces any previous condition.
See the crate level docs for more details.
§Example
Enable styling painted only when both stdout and stderr are TTYs:
use yansi::{Paint, Condition};
painted.red().on_yellow().whenever(Condition::STDOUTERR_ARE_TTY);
